Canada has a good choice of wire-free robot mowers now, mostly through the brands' own stores and a few big retailers. In our last price check we found 28 models on sale here from 9 brands, from C$1,299 to C$7,599, with half of them under C$2,699.99. Prices are before tax, the way Canadian shops show them.
Two things set Canada apart. The season is short and lopsided. Grass grows hardest in May and June, and a mower working at its limit never catches up. After that it sits in storage for five months or more, so how you store it matters as much as how it mows.

Large lots and the short season
Area ratings assume best-case conditions and a full season. In Canada a lot of growth comes in May and June, so we would look for a rating at least a quarter above your lawn size. With that margin, 9 models sold here cover half an acre (21,800 sq ft) and 2 cover a full acre. For more than that, two mowers sharing the lawn is the usual answer. The 1-acre guide explains the margin in detail.
Slopes and rough ground
Rural lots often have a ditch or a bank somewhere, and rough patches where the lawn meets the field. 27 of the models sold here are rated for slopes of 45% (about 24°) or more, and 17 have all-wheel drive, which helps on bumpy and soft ground in spring. See the slopes guide for why the slope at the edge of the lawn matters most.
Trees and signal
Satellite mowers need a clear view of the sky. Spruce and pine along a property line block it all year, not just in summer. 14 of the models sold here use cameras or a laser scanner instead. Our trees guide shows which type suits a lot with tall conifers.
Winter storage
Clean the mower before the first frost, charge it, switch it off and bring it indoors where it won't freeze. Husqvarna says to store it fully charged. Navimow says at least 85% and a top-up every 120 days, so put a reminder in your calendar for mid-winter. A heated garage or a basement beats an unheated shed.
Theft and remote lots
27 of the models sold here have GPS tracking, built in or as an add-on. On a lot set back from the road that matters less than on a front lawn in town, but tracking also helps if a mower gets stuck far from the house. The theft guide compares the features and data plans.
Common questions
Which robot mowers are sold in Canada?
We found 28 wire-free models on sale in Canada from 9 brands: Airseekers, Dreame, Ecovacs, Eufy, Hookii, Mammotion, Mova, Segway Navimow, Yarbo. In our last check they cost from C$1,299 to C$7,599 before tax.
What do I do with a robot mower in a Canadian winter?
Bring the mower inside before the first frost, clean it, and charge it, and store it somewhere dry above freezing. Husqvarna says to charge fully before storage, and Navimow says at least 85% with a top-up every 120 days. Satellite models keep their map, so spring setup is usually just a matter of putting the station back where it was.
Can a robot mower handle an acre in Canada?
Yes, but the short season makes the margin more important. 2 of the models sold in Canada are rated high enough for a full acre with our 25% margin. In a spring growth spurt a mower at its limit falls behind quickly.
Are robot mowers cheaper in the US than in Canada?
Prices in Canadian dollars are usually higher than the US price on paper, and we do not convert between them. Buying across the border also brings duty, shipping and warranty questions, so we only show prices from Canadian shops.
